Had to change one of the review sessions! (New review session on 5/6. Review on 5/7 canceled) And Ms Mazzini's review session on Thursday is canceled and is now on Wednesday morning again).
ALSO: MORNING REVIEW SESSION TOMORROW. Instead of going to the auditorium - go to room 399 to learn about the Bush/Clinton years from Ms Mazzini.
The AP is coming! ONE MORE WEEK! (WHAT?!)
Check the AP Review schedule tab above (OR CLICK HERE) for dates, times, and topics. Meet in the 340 Suite at designated times. Mazzini is doing the AM sessions Albu is doing the PM sessions.
It's time to crack open those review books (come see me if you need one), start making flash cards (remember the Navigation Acts??? Didn't think so…), and spend your weekends in the library with responsible friends where you make timelines and give each other fun reminders for remembering things. Real friends quiz each other. Here's a picture of some of my most studious APUSH students from 2012 working hard at B&N with their iced lattes ;-) They scored very well! #NYU #Bard College #Etc

APUSH SEMESTER 2 HOMEWORK SCHEDULE
Your homework assignments will be based on chapter readings from your text book, Out Of Many and include documents from the corresponding chapters in the Source Book. Your essays must be your own work and may be accompanied by reading quizzes. If you're absent, homework is due on the day you return back to class and must be labeled "ABSENT" at the top, accompanied with a note. Late submissions will be given point deductions. If you are missing more than one homework assignment, it will be extremely difficult to achieve an "E" in this class.
Homework Grading Rubric:
10 - 9: Outstanding essay, strong argument/thesis, in depth details from the textbook and source book. Shows critical, analytical thinking, not just summary abilities. Detailed outline included.
8 - 7: Good essay, most of the information from the chapter is included. Documents are used but somewhat vague. Detailed outline included.
6 - 5: Vague essay, most of the information from the chapter is not included. Documents are missing/Outline is missing.
0: You plagiarized. This means you copied and outline directly from the internet and/or copied another student's work and will not receive credit.
You may NOT copy/paste/modify and print out the course notes outline as your own work -- but you can use them as helpful study guides (your outlines should be much more thorough anyway).

Went to FDR'S Museum/Library/Home this weekend!
So much fun! Here are some interesting facts:
- He went to Harvard but only managed a C average. Then he dropped out of Columbia Law School.
- His father hated politicians. Whoops?
- His mother was from the Delano family who earned their wealth by participating in the opium trade with China :-/
- FDR had only spoken to Truman two times during his presidency. When FDR died during his fourth term, an army man asked "I am 19 years old, and as long as I can remember, FDR was my president. Who will be our president now?" and his higher up responded, "our vice president, Truman?" The young boy said, "Who can be a Truer Man than FDR?"
- Eleanor Roosevelt was amazing.
Highlights from your incredible Gilded Age Walking Tours!
An Excellent Finale to America's Next Top Muckraker today! Congratulations to all the winners!
So this weekend... while you guys were hard at work on outlines and essays...I had a very *transcendental* experience up in New England! Do these places ring a bell?

Write 2 facts about each colony next to it. Example 1: Pennsylvania "William Penn's Holy Experiment - Quake religion. Example 2: Massachusetts: Mayflower compact - self government. Salem Witch Trials with Puritans. Example 3: NY Fur Trade, Zenger Trial

Label the Ohio River Valley
Label the Lousiana Purchase / Mississippi River / Port of New Orleans / Gulf of Mexico
Label Florida
Label Oregon Territory
Label the Texas Annexation

Under all of the above (the purple) write a few words about how we acquired the territory (For Ohio River Valley you can write: Treaty of Paris 1783 - acquired land from Britain after the Revolutionary War)
Lighty draw in all 48 states - Keep it "light" (maybe use pencil) because we will draw more things over them.
