3. How did the Electoral Crisis of 1876 impact Reconstruction and how do you feel about the impact?

http://www.cjournal.info/CJO/terkelEllisIntervu.htm
It is entitled "Why I Quit the KKK." KKK membership was at its peak in the 1920's -- and he joined in the 1950's. Even though it was 80 years after Reconstruction was over, how do you think his motivations for joining the klan were similar to those of KKK members in the 1870's? Do you think a member of the original KKK would have been able to come to terms with his racism the way CP Ellis did?
HW #36 Due Thursday
Consult Chapter 16 for information regarding these questions:
1. Create a chart showing the SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND POLITICAL conditions of the UNION and the CONFEDERACY. 2) Watch the videos from 'The Presidents' of Lincoln. There are three parts. Take notes as you watch.
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVXnTshwjlw
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FWV8rKFvcU
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsvlzCDyPJQ
Using the videos and what you read about in the textbook, create TWO handouts about President Lincoln. Imagine that these are like the handouts that you get when you work in 'Presidential Teams.' One handout should show a positive perspective on Lincoln, the other should show a negative perspective. Each one should have primary sources quotes from the source book as well. Each sheet only has to be one-sided. Come up with THREE questions for each sheet that you would want the students to use the sheet to answer. DO NOT copy and paste information about Lincoln from the internet. It must be in your own words based on the video and textbook. Quotes from him are the only things that you should put down directly. The more informative, complex, and connected the information is, the better.
